A naked Lady is entwined with the Underworld bearded Serpent, Och Kan, who emerges from the leg of God K. Out of the serpent’s jaws emerges the aged deity, Itzamna, the first Shaman.

The Woman is possibly the Moon Goddess, while another version of this vase painting suggests she could also be the Earth personified as a woman, giving birth to God N through her relations with Och Kan. Others suggest she may not be a deity but an elite woman about to give birth and therefore entwined with the dangers and energies of possible death by childbirth.

Also known as Ochan or Ahacan, the Serpent is in fact the great Vision Serpent of the Maya. A Daykeeper (or Shaman) would have to experience the Vision Serpent first hand though some psychonautic or psychedelic journey in order to understand the realm in which he is being trained to navigate, thus finalizing his initiation into the mysteries.
